Senthil (Prabhu) buys a palace (Vettaya Raja aranmanai). The history of the palace is that Chandramukhi was burnt alive after her kalla kaadhalan (a dance master) was beheaded by the king, vettaya raja. Now, Chandramukhi’s aavi is residing in the palace and so is a 30ft snake (not anaconda). Chandramukhi’s aavi is carefully sealed behind doors so that it does not escape. These rooms are at one end of the palace. From Chandramukhi’s room if you look down through the window you see a small partition which is where the dance master resided and thought dance classes.
Senthil is happily married to Ganga (Jothika). These two along with entire family (Nasser & wife & daughter (Malavika) , Vadivelu & wife and attai) and friend Rajini (Saravanan in the movie) move over to the palace. The palace has a gardener (vijayakumar) and his petti, Durga (Nayantara). The dance master (Vineet) is also there in a partition of the house.
Saravanan (Rajini) is a psychatrist with a Gold Medal from US of A. He is also the student of Brad Lee leading psychatrist in USA. He can read anybody’s mind. If you talk anything within yourselves he can decipher it and reply (this is not the vyadi that Vivek got in the movie Whistle).
Durga is a paatu teacher
Ganga is eager to see what theres in Chandramukhi’s room, so she gets the key done with the help of Durga and they open the door. The keymaker dies the moment the door is opened and Senthil escapes from being run over by a truck. From here the suspense builds. In the night there is sound of golusu and singing of songs. Saravanan and Durga always fight over small things.
Due to a medical emergency Saravanan leaves but before leaving he tells the family that Priya is in love with Vineet the dance master and they should finalise.
Everynight when the golusu sound is heard, Durga is found inside the palace when she should be in the partition with thatha. Once glasses of clock break, bowls fall down, Ganga’s saree burns, each time Durga is around. So suspicion builds on Durga. Saravanan is immediately called by Senthil who had gone for few days on a medical emergency. Saravanan returns and starts investigating.
Senthil is saved by Saravanan on two occasions, once when his coffee is poisoned and next when fish tank falls down from top. Durga is the one who serves coffee and the fish tank fell down when she was mopping the house due to spilt coffee.
The suspense is built is regular focus of Senthil’s attai and her mail who is dumb. Attai, was against the marriage of Senthil to Ganga, as she wanted him to marry Priya. Since Saravanan interferes in family matters, attai wants to remove him.
In the meantime Nasser (Senthil’s maamaa) brings in a priest to do pooja and drive the ghost out of house. Once during the pooja is happening Saravanan investigates and hears music from Chandramukhi’s room as also golusu sound. He locks the door from outside and talks with her as Vettaya Raja. Chandramukhi’s wants to kill Vettaya Raja on durga pournami day.
Priya’s engagement happens with Vineet. And from here the climax of the movie starts.
Who Chandramukhi is, is anybody guess.

Rajini enters the movie with a fight. The fight sequences are unbelievable. He comes from America with a small bag even smaller then the bag I carry to office.
The songs are just there. The climax song is a good carnatic peice. Of course, its not his original!
There are sequences between Vadivelu’s wife and Rajini which Vadivelu tries to prevent. This is where all the double meaning dialogues stem from.
