Bachchan in Hindi Chandramukhi?
Last year’s Tamil superhit Chandramukhi , starring Rajnikant , is being remade in Hindi. And the man who is making the film says only Amitabh Bachchan can play the stellar role played by Rajnikant in the Tamil version.
With its gross earnings approximating Rs.700 million down south, Chandramukhi has turned out to be a big fortune for its makers. The movie, originally a Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu, has already been made in Kannada and Telugu as well.
And now a south Indian ad filmmaker is learnt to have acquired the rights to remake the movie in Hindi. Narren Aditya reportedly paid a huge sum of money to the producer Appachan to get the copyrights to remake the movie in Hindi.
With rights acquired, Narren Aditya is now hoping to sign superstar Amitabh Bachchan to play the pivotal role.
"No one has the stature and superstardom to carry off a role of such immeasurable fantasy and flamboyance. I don't think I can make the Hindi 'Chandramukhi' unless Mr. Bachchan agrees to play the lead," an IANS report quotes Narren as saying.
"I won't rest easy until Mr. Bachchan says yes."
"Now I'm suddenly making two films in Hindi. One is 'Chandramukhi'. And the other is an epic love story that I've named 'Saaz'. It is set during the Goan liberation movement. It's the story of a Goan boy, a Goan girl and a Portuguese officer."
Sahara is to produce the film.
Narren hasn't decided on the rest of the cast. But he has found the young actor whom he considers to be the best bet for the young Goan lover-boy. "The minute I saw Sammir Dattani, I immediately knew he was the face for the lead in 'Saaz'. It's a face that tempts the camera. I'd certainly like him to play the lead."
Narren even goes on to say that he won’t rest until Mr. Bachchan says yes.
Narren has so far made only ad films. He is moving to feature films with the Hindi Chandramukhi and another movie that he has tentatively titled Saaz.
